The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) maintains an extensive website.
Before medical devices can be marketed in the United States,
they must be cleared by what is called a Pre market Approval Process.
Devices that are attached to Dental Units qualify as Medical devices,
and so must have authorization before they are marketed.
THE FDA DOES NOT "APPROVE" any device, but it does ensure that the manufacturer of the device has taken
appropriate steps to determine that the products are safe and effective.
The claims that have been supported are contained in a form called "Indications for use."
These forms are available for your review at the FDA website, located at www.fda.gov.
